The Story of Holly Yashi
It started with only two in a garage in Arcata, California. Now, 40 years on, it's nearly 50 of us in a 15,000 sq ft studio, still in Arcata, and still hand-making every bit of magic to help you lead your most colorful life.
Where the magic happens. “We honor the craft of jewelry making, handcrafting small batches, and preserving the value of each piece.”
Holly’s first designs were hand cut animal earrings made of brass and silver. Within months they had a loyal following, and soon after Holly and Paul discovered the magic within a seemingly dull gray metal called niobium. Through an expedited oxidation process, niobium is dipped into a bath of electrically charged water which turns the metal into hues of rich, permanent color. The beautiful result is a look that has become the signature style of Holly Yashi for the last thirty five years.
Since 1981, we at Holly Yashi have been making quality, handcrafted artisan jewelry in our Redwood Coast design studio in Arcata, California. For over 40 years, our signature style of colorful and lightweight niobium metal is still what makes Holly Yashi jewelry unique and irresistible. Featuring an array of inspiring materials, including Austrian crystal pearls, Bohemian and dichroic glass, and hypo-allergenic metals, all our jewelry is crafted by hand in small, high quality batches, one piece at a time.
From the Founders
It is my life’s passion to take in the beauty around me and transform it into jewelry that inspires and excites women around the world. When I agreed so many years ago to start a jewelry business, I had no idea the decision would change the whole course of my life...
We have a story around every piece of jewelry we make, every joint we weld, and color we choose. We make it our mission at Holly Yashi to adhere to the principles of good design. We believe anything truly valuable takes some care, and that the things you wear really can be an expression of who you are.

A studio upgrade of larger windows allows for continuous ventilation that ensures employees are breathing fresh air free of dust and pollutants. And the use of skylights and solar panels help to generate 90% of our studio’s electricity.
Even our parking lot has a green focus, with the inclusion of permeable grades that allow for rainwater to be distributed to the soil instead of the street.
