Vintage Vogue: The Palm Royale Edition

Picture it: Palm Beach, 1969. A time when sherbet hues were hot, embellished turbans were chic, and martini-soaked lunches by the pool were de rigueur.

Apple TV brings these groovy times roaring back with their recent launch of Palm Royale. A sugar fest for the eyes, this campy series has vintage fashion lovers reaching for their head scarves and frosted eye shadow as they cheer on stars Kristen Wiig, Carol Burnett, Laura Dern, Ricky Martin, and Allison Janney through frothy antics amid the 1960s’ swanky jet-set scene.

This was the heyday for designers like Lilly Pulitzer, Emilio Pucci, Bill Blass, and of course, Gucci, with larger-than-life floral prints, mosaic patterns, and over-the-top accessories setting a tone of maximalist decadence.

Can you imagine spending a day lavished in this candy-coated luxury? Come with us as we play dress-up in this era of opulence, starting with brunch under the palm trees and an evening beneath the stars. And no surprise, our fashionable companions are our favorite rare and retro Holly Yashi pieces.

Over black coffee (no sugar), and half a grapefruit, you settle on the day’s plans: First, a trip to the parlor… no, golfing next. And then a late lunch by the pool.
