Made To Admire
Celebrating Our Favorite Women For International Women’s Day
From trailblazers to role models, these women have made a beautiful impact on our lives.
Ding…
Ding, ding, ding…
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding…
Last March 8th, that was the sound of our inbox alerting us that we had received yet another message wishing us a Happy Women’s Day… and then another, and another, and many, many more by day’s end. Unlike other holidays or important dates where friends and family wanted us to know they were thinking of us, on this particular day they were thanking us. They had joined millions of other well-wishers around the globe who were praising women and girls for their achievements, support, compassion, and sisterhood.
The first Woman’s Day celebration took place in Chicago on May 3, 1908, bringing together an audience of 1,500 women dedicated to advancing the support of female workers. The following year, women gathered in New York for similar celebrations. Soon after, Women’s Day celebrations were being held throughout Europe and around the world. More recently, International Women’s Day has taken on more personal sentiments with coworkers, neighbors, and best friends reaching out with encouraging messages like “So Glad You’re In My Life”, “You Inspire Me”, and “You Lift Me Up”. March 8th has also become the official day to recognize and support women-owned businesses like Holly Yashi. (And yes, jewelry is the perfect token of appreciation to let your favorite women know how important they are.)
This year, we wanted to share a list of women who we not only appreciate and admire, but who inspire our designs with their unique, colorful, and sometimes quirky style. This is our dream list of women we’d love to befriend in real life—and not just so we could get a peek inside their closets and jewelry boxes! They’re unapologetically themselves and shine with a light that’s all their own. And that’s exactly what the spirit of Holly Yashi was based upon.
